Munich’s beloved BLITZ club has announced that it’ll be taking its final bow in 2026. In a statement shared on February 18 2026, the club’s owners gently reminded us that all good things really do come to an end, confirming a closing weekend that runs from Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3. One last stretch of late nights, big sounds, and no doubt sore feet.
I personally became familiar with Blitz through it’s stunning interior when I was a DJ booth designer. For me this set the standard.
“BLITZ became a truly devoted music space, a temple of dance,” the statement reads and they’re not wrong. Since opening, the club has stood for quality, curiosity, and community, carving out a reputation as one of Europe’s most respected electronic music rooms. While the team had hoped to stay forever, circumstances beyond their control mean it’s time to “set sail to new shores.” Naturally, they’ve promised to do so in style.
Part of BLITZ’s magic comes from where its situated. The club is housed inside a former congress hall at the Deutsches Museum, specifically within its Forum der Technik. Long before DJs and dancers filled the room, the space was built for lectures, ideas, and large public gatherings; a place designed for people to come together. Turns out, it was perfect training for life as a nightclub. High ceilings, generous proportions, and a sense of grandeur helped BLITZ feel more like a cultural institution than a standard club from day one.
Since opening in April 2017, BLITZ has welcomed a who’s-who of electronic music, hosting artists such as Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Laurent Garnier, Ellen Allien, Jeff Mills, Miss Kittin, and Surgeon, among many others. Over nine years, it became a trusted stop for DJs and dancers alike; a room where music always came first.
The club’s devotion to sound helped seal its legacy. BLITZ is famous for its custom VOID sound system and striking wall panels inspired by the movement of swarming animals, designed to gently bend and guide sound around the room. The result? A dancefloor where everything feels clear, warm, and alive — the kind of place where you forget the outside world exists.
While BLITZ may be closing its doors, its spirit isn’t going anywhere. The memories, the music, and the unmistakable feeling of that room will linger long after the final track fades out. One last summer, one last dance — and a well-earned place in Munich’s clubbing history.
It’s a sad day when a music space closes but we like to bring you the latest news here at HITA*. Have you been to a night there? Share your experiences in the comments.
